Eye protection lamp is a type of desk lamp mainly aimed at the student group. It is relatively expensive, but can eye protection lamp really protect the eyes? The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine recently issued a warning on the quality and safety risks of eye protection desk lamps: spot checks have found that over 90% of eye protection lamps on the market are unqualified. Some low-quality eye protection lamps not only fail to protect the eyes, but may also damage vision.
32 batches were randomly inspected, and 30 batches were found to be unqualified;
The testing personnel first collected 32 batches of desk lamps labeled with the words "eye protection" or "no flicker" on the packaging or instructions from the market. They mainly referred to the requirements of domestic and foreign reading and writing desk lamps and relevant lighting standards to test the flicker, illuminance, and illuminance uniformity related to eye protection functions. The results showed that among the 32 batches labeled with "eye protection" or "no flicker", 30 batches of samples did not meet the testing requirements, with a high failure rate of 93.8%.
While testing 32 batches of desk lamps labeled as "eye protection" or "flicker free", the sampling personnel also conducted comparative testing on 28 batches of ordinary desk lamps. The results showed that 22 batches did not meet the testing requirements, accounting for 78.6% of the total number of batches. Although the failure rate is relatively high, from another perspective, the flicker, illuminance, and illuminance uniformity of 6 batches of ordinary desk lamps are actually more reliable than the 30 batches of eye protection lamps sampled. During the random inspection, it was found that a regular desk lamp priced at 109 yuan met the monitoring requirements for all performance indicators such as flicker, while a 250 yuan LED lamp labeled as non flicker showed a flicker amplitude exceeding the low-risk limit
The concept of "eye protection" is a gimmick and currently has no scientific definition
How to choose a desk lamp for children? When using incandescent lamps as the preferred desk lamp, turn on the background light
Do not buy "three no" products, pay attention to whether the packaging uses standard Chinese, whether it is marked with the manufacturer's name (or trademark), rated voltage range, rated frequency range, rated current, model, etc. If consumers have requirements for the flicker, illumination, and uniformity of lighting fixtures, they can choose lighting fixtures with the "CQC" voluntary product certification mark, which assesses the flicker, illumination, and uniformity of lighting fixtures.
Natural light is the best way for children to read and do homework. If you want to use a desk lamp, the first choice is an incandescent lamp with soft lighting. This type of lamp has the least eye irritation. A 25 watt incandescent bulb is enough to meet the child's reading and writing needs
 Nowadays, incandescent lamps and desk lamps are rarely seen on the market, and it is more convenient to purchase them online. Dr. Wu Guiming also suggests that if choosing energy-saving lamps and LED desk lamps, it is best to use warm light sources and adjustable brightness desk lamps. Desk lamps that cannot adjust brightness have strong light and can cause eye irritation, which can easily lead to visual fatigue.
When using, it is also important to note that the desk lamp is best placed in the front left corner, so that children are not easily affected by shadows when writing. Press down the lampshade to allow the light from the desk lamp to project under the eyes, avoiding direct sunlight. Doctors suggest that when using a desk lamp, it is best to have other light sources such as background lights indoors (while turning on the ceiling lights or headlights indoors), and avoid using tabletops that produce mirror reflections. After about half an hour of reading and writing, children should rest for a few minutes and maintain the correct reading and writing posture.
